PC on HDTV

(sorry for delaying writing this guide...)

i remember those days where people try to hook up PC to TV but then found out it is not usable because TV pixel is too low and it really hard to see text.. due to this TV manufacturer come out TV with PC input and higher definition and refresh rate..

and now we had high definition tv that up to 1920 x 1020 pixel.. (they called-it full hd) so... do we really to have Full HD on PC? not necessary.. normal lcd monitor can go up to 1200+ resolution but people don't go up until that high resolution because it is very hard to see the text when resolution is too high.. the same thing apply here.. the most important thing is adjust the resolution to a level that you can see text clearly..

but for the hardcore who want to enjoy the Full HD experience.. no problem.. you can go up to 1020.. but please not that : 1.) you might need to adjust the font dpi because text anti-aliasing (which make text look smoother) is not possible when font dpi is too low.. 2.) Depends on TV setting on aspect ratio adjust setting (some allow to adjust normal / wide screen and some auto adjust).. for auto adjust TV you need to adjust the pixel to 1920 x 1200 instead of 1920 x 1020 because it readjust the vertical resolution..

(Special Section : Digital vs. Analogue)

what is the difference between digital and analog? compare film camera and digital camera.. film you need take care properly.. digital camera you need to worry about that.. but there is disadvantage about digital.. picture taken on low res camera look pixelise.. (but picture taken on film camera won't have this problem..) another problem is the response time.. that is why now we had full hd format and faster frame per second fps to counter the digital format problems...

3G Broadband (what the fuzz is all about)

beside from WiMax (Broadband using Wifi technology).. Celco provider are providing high-speed wireless broadband by using their 3G signal to use it to surf the net.. a good solution if your existing broadband connection is very poor.. but... you need to make sure that you have 3G coverage in your area if not it will run like dialup connection speed.. furthermore if like to download files, you need to make sure it have 3G HSPDA coverage (for more faster surfing speed).. you can check this with your celco provider...

Lotus Symphony

Before Microsoft Office came in.. People are using Lotus 1-2-3.. but when Microsoft launches Microsoft Office 97.. there a change in trend.. every user that buy a new PC with Microsoft Windows will definitely buy and install Microsoft Office also..

after follow behind Microsoft Office.. 10 years later Lotus bounches back with new product Lotus Symphony.. an open source wordprocessor, spreadsheet and presentation suite that targeting Microsoft Office and Lotus Suite user..

Imagine this (this is from my past experiences).. You need to do budget analysis with an business associate from another company to reduce cost.. but the problem is they are using Lotus 123 and you are using Microsoft Excel.. Instead of purchasing additional Lotus 123 or Microsoft Excel.. Now you can use Lotus Symphony format.. and since this is an Open Source Software (OSS) (it's free!) you no need to forced into purchasing additional (Lotus / Office) licensing and overall reduce IT investment for some companies..

Windows Home Server

If you have multiple PCs and Laptops in your house and have problem finding photos, musics and videos and backing up it? Microsoft had recently release Windows Home Server.. which act like a central hubs.. where user able to access other PCs collection of photos, musics and videos easily or store it on Home Server so that they can access it (without switch on that user PC).. beside that it had auto backup function that schedule automatically backup the files on PCs connected to Home Server that make backing file an ease.. and user no longer worried about data lose due to accidently deletion or viruses attack..
